British people drink twice as much when alone and throwing their own drinks.

Home drinkers in England drink more than they think they do. According to experiments done across England it was found that the average person throwing a drink at home when they are by themselves use on average 57ml which is double than they would get if they were in a pub.

The campaign called "Know your limits" did the study and according to them people throw much more when they are alone at home.

The Minister for Public Health Gillian Merron said “Many of us enjoy a drink, especially at New Year.

“But it’s easy to get carried away and it’s worrying to see just how much more people might be unwittingly pouring for themselves and their friends at home on a regular basis.

“Over time, such over-generosity may backfire and harm your health. If you want to minimise your risk of diseases like cancer, heart disease and stroke, it’s worth paying attention to the size of your measures.

“New Year is a good time to re-think how much you drink.”

Iran Intelligence asks for photos and videos to identify "rioters"

Tehran, Iran – The Intelligence ministry of Iran has asked people of Iran to send them videos and pictures of what Iran calls rioters. This brings the importance of covering their faces in this new crunch down on protesters.

The Iranian government has warned of violence against those that protest today in Iran. The Iranian government used pictures in the past to convict and execute people that they find through the pictures and videos.

Foreign media would be encouraged not to post pictures of Iranians showing their faces in videos or pictures as they face certain death if they are identified.

Video – Many protesters gathered at Mashhad Azad university

Tehran, Iran – Tehran is in a tense moment as protesters gather for today’s big protest in support of Mousavi and against the Iranian regime. The streets of Tehran basically look like a locked down prison state according to those on the ground there.

The protesters are nervous which is can be understood why as the Iranian regime warned of violence against today’s protesters.

Hard by Rihanna – Music Video and Lyrics

When I heard ‘Hard’ for the first time I thought it was cool now I have seen the video and heard all the lyrics I am confused. Hard is a self glorifying song and I had better expectations of her than this.  I loved Rihanna’s old songs like Umbrella even Disturbia was cool because it was so different from what has become the norm. She sang with a beat about something else that was not just about herself but it seems it was to much to hope that it would last.

The song is good and the music video is hot it reminds me of Tank Girl but I am rather disappointed. Yes, she is fantastic, no arguing about that but why make a song about yourself saying how hard and good you are? Unless I am missing the point, she did write this just after the whole Chris Brown fiasco, maybe she just wanted to show the world that she is a strong woman? I like the new edge to her music giving her a punk rock sound, it’s just the lyrics that bug me they seem so self absorbed.

It will most likely win awards and be in the billboards for a while to come, here is Rihanna’s latest released music video ‘Hard’

Rihanna Hard Official Full Music Video HD

Lyrics:

Yeah, yeah, yeah (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Yeah, yeah, yeah (A yeah, yeah, yeah)
A yeah, yeah, yeah (A yeah, yeah, yeahhh)
A yeah, a yeah, a yeah, yeahhh
A yeah, a yeah, a yeah, yeahhh

They can say whateva
I’ma do whateva
No pain is foreva
Yup, ya know this

Tougher than a lion
Aint no need in tryin’
I live where the sky ends
Yup, ya know this

Never lyin’, truth tella
That Rihanna reign just won’t let up
All black on, black top shades
Black top Maybach

I’ma rock this shit like fashion hasn’t
goin’ til they say stop
And my, runway never looked so clear
With the hottest bitch in heels right here

No fear, and while you are getting your cry on
I’m getting my fly onnn
Sincere, I see you aimin’ at my pedastal
I betta let ya know

That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
So hard, so hard, so hard, so hard

A yeah, yeah, yeah
That Rihanna reign just won’t let up
A yeah, yeah, yeah
That Rihanna reign just won’t let up
A yeah, yeah, yeah
That Rihanna reign just won’t let up
So hard, so hard, so hard, so hard

All up on it
Know you want to clone it
Aint like me
That chick too phony
Ride this beat, beat, beat like a pony
Meet me at the top (top, top)
It’s gettin’ lonely

Who think they test me now
Run through yo town
I’ll shut it down
Brilliant, resilient
Fan mail from 27 million

And I want it all
It’s gonna take more than that
hope that ain’t all you got
I need it all
The money, the fame, the cars, the clothes

I can’t just let you run up on me like that (all on me like that)
Yeahhh
I see you aimin’ at my pedastal
So I think I gotta let ya know

That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
That I, I, I, I’m so hard
A yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m so hard
So hard, so hard, so hard, so hard

Go hard or go home
Back to your residence
Soon the red doors get a block back to the presidents
I used to run my old block like Obama did
You don’t gotta believe me, go ask my momma then

Couldn’t even come in my room
Smell like a kilo
Look like me and two of my boys playin’ casino
Cali’s all I keep in my bag in California
Tell them to give me back my swag
They try to clone me

You see my Louis chucks, Louis bag, Louis frames, Louis belt
What that make me
Louis mane

I’m in the all white party wearin’ all black
With my new black watch called the heart attack
Cardiac arrest, cardiac wrist
Yeah, they say they’re hard
They aint hard as this

Hard!

One word describes me
And if I wasn’t doin’ this
You know where I be, too hard

Where them girls talkin’ back
Where them girls talkin’ back
Where they at, where they at, where they at

Where them bloggers girls at
Where them bloggers girls at
Where they at, where they at, where they at

Where ya lighters at
Where ya lighters at
Where they at, where they at, where they at

American website in Bali, Inonesia warns of terrorist or "Bali attack"

Bali, Indonesia – The American website in Bali today warned about a "Bali attack" tonight amidst new year celebrations. The website however told tourists not to panic but to be at full alert.

The Bali Tourism Board widely distributed this message: “The Governor of Bali Mr. Mangku Pastika wishes to share a message with all of us: ‘There is an indication of an attack to Bali tonight,’ but please don’t panic, but put your security system to full alert.”  This message is shared verbatim for your information. The safety and security recommendations in our Consular Information Sheet, quoted below, remain valid.

“Indonesian police and security forces take active measures against both ongoing threats posed by terrorist cells, including Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), a U.S. government-designated terrorist organization that carried out several bombings at various times from 2002 to 2009 and outbreaks of violence elsewhere.  While Indonesia’s counterterrorism efforts have been ongoing and partly successful, violent elements have demonstrated a willingness and ability to carry out deadly attacks with little or no warning.  Most recently, in November 2009, unknown assailants shot at foreigners in Banda Aceh, North Sumatra, an area that was devastated by the 2004 tsunami and the scene of a long-running separatist conflict that ended in 2005.  The gunfire wounded a European development worker.  A house occupied by U.S. citizen teachers was targeted and hit by gunfire, but there were no U.S. citizen casualties.  In July 2009, attacks by armed assailants in Papua resulted in several deaths, including security personnel and one Australian national.  Also in July, suspected JI elements bombed two Western hotels in Jakarta, killing nine Indonesians and foreigners and injuring over 50, including six U.S. citizens.  U.S. citizens in Indonesia must be physically and mentally prepared to cope with future attacks even as they go about their normal daily routines.

Extremists may target both official and private interests, including hotels, clubs and shopping centers.  While it may be difficult to modify one’s behavior to counter risks in a country where places in which U.S. citizens and other Westerners must congregate to live and work are well known and few in number, it is also extremely necessary.  In their work and daily living activities, and while traveling, U.S. citizens should be vigilant and prudent at all times.  We urge U.S. citizens to monitor local news reports, vary their routes and times, and maintain a low profile.  U.S. citizens must consider the security and safety preparedness of hotels, residences, restaurants, and entertainment or recreation venues that they frequent.”

Police, Army vehicles creep into Tehran ahead of today's opposition protests

Tehran, Iran – Opposition members and protesters today face the wrath of the Iranian regime as they plan to protest in support of opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi. A rally is planned for today.

Police vehicles are streaming into the Tehran today blocking off many of the squares ahead of the protests. Reports of vehicles coming in, armored, military and police vehicles are coming in the capital today.

The streets are full of anti riot police wearing full body armor and seems ready to fight.

There’s a heavy police presence in the capital Tehran today. The Iranian regime warned protesters and supporters of Mousavi that they will face a harsh crackdown and violence if they proceed to join in the anti government rallies.

The Guardian Council already gave out a statement that the Iranian people protesting or planning to protest today are guilty and face death and execution before they protest.

This week more than 11 Journalists were arrested and the media in Iran is basically non existent, Iran also made the most dangerous country to be a journalist in 2009. On Sunday also called "bloody Sunday" 35 people are reported to have died and many people abducted which no one heard from since.

Since Greenpeace USA did their stunt security at the memorial were upgraded and tours also have been limted.

Study: Smoking leads to blindness

According a new study by the University of California – Los Angeles they found that smoking increases one’s risk of age-related macular degeneration. You read correctly, smoking causes real eye problems and can even lead to blindness and is the leading cause of blindness in the US for people over 65 years old.

Their message is clear, it is never to late to stop smoking. Lead author Dr. Anne Coleman professor of ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA said that "We found that even older people’s eyes will benefit from kicking the habit."

AMD also causes progressive damage to the macula according to the study and the when the macula degenerates people experience darkness or blurring in their central vision which makes it harder to do ordinary duties and things that make life easier for example people experience darkness or blurring in their central vision, preventing them from being able to read, drive and recognize faces.

"Cigarette smoking has been hypothesized to increase AMD risk by reducing serum antioxidant levels, altering blood flow to the eyes and decreasing retinal pigments."

"This study provides yet another compelling reason to stop smoking and suggests that it is never too late to quit," said Dr. Paul Sieving, director of the National Eye Institute.

New study shows to much Vitamin E not a good thing

A new study shows that Vitamin E may do more harm than good.

Reseachers at the Tel Aviv University suggests that to much Vitamin E can be bad for you.

"There were so many conflicting reports about Vitamin E and its effect on various diseases, particularly heart disease, that we wanted to set the record straight," says Prof. Dov Lichtenberg of TAU’s Sackler School of Medicine.

"Our new study shows that some people may be harmed by the treatment, whereas others may benefit from it. Now we’re trying to identify groups of people that are most likely to benefit from the effects of Vitamin E," adds study co-researcher Dr. Ilya Pinchuk. The TAU research team also included decision analyst Dr. Moshe Leshno of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine and the Leon Recanati Faculty of Management and Dr. Yedidya (Didi) Dotan, whose PhD thesis is the basis for this analysis.

A longer life without it?

Applying a very different approach than any previous study, the team of researchers put their heads together to draw definitive conclusions about Vitamin E. In their publication in ATVB the Tel Aviv University researchers evaluated the results of the prominent studies measuring the health benefits of Vitamin E but reached varying conclusions. There have been many previous publications on the subject. Analysis of the results of all these past publications together revealed that subjects who did not take a Vitamin E supplement enjoyed more quality-adjusted-life-years (QALY), a standard parameter used in medicine to assess the effect of medical interventions.

"To explain the meaning of this parameter," says Dr. Pinchuk, "consider a participant who was healthy during the first 10 out of 20 years of the study, but then suffered a stroke and became dependent on others throughout the following 10 years. The QALY during the first 10 years of healthy life is 10, but after the stroke the quality of life is only half of what this person had before. Therefore, the second decade is considered the equivalent of merely 5 years of healthy life and in sum a person’s QALY is 15.

The researchers examined data from more than 300,000 subjects in the US, Europe and Israel. "Our major finding," says Dr. Pinchuk, "was that the average quality-adjusted life years (QALY) of Vitamin E- supplemented individuals was 0.30 less than that of untreated people. This, of course, does not mean that everybody consuming Vitamin E shortens their life by almost 4 months. But on average, the quality-adjusted longevity is lower for vitamin-treated people. This says something significant."

Overturning earlier studies

In the BioFactors article, the TAU researchers defined "the real challenge as being able to identify who is likely to benefit taking Vitamin E." They also explored the first hypothesis of the oxidative theory of atherosclerosis published more than 20 years ago, which was the basis for the widespread use of antioxidants today. At first, this hypothesis raised great enthusiasm that anti-oxidants like Vitamins E and C and flavonoids could be used to prevent disease or its progression. In this respect, the new findings are very disappointing.

"We’ve now concluded that going to the grocery or to a health food store to buy Vitamin E supplements, for the most part, won’t do you good. In some cases it can do harm," says Dr. Pinchuk. "A doctor wouldn’t prescribe anti-hypertension drugs to the whole population, only to those with low blood pressure. It seems this is true for antioxidants, too. When you give them to everybody, you may be doing more harm than good. Some people may benefit from it, but more may be harmed."

The researchers are now building sets of criteria that detail under what conditions Vitamin E supplements should be taken. They are also investigating the chemical mechanisms of antioxidants in general to better understand how they work.

Lebanon fires at Israel jets

Lebanon – Israeli jets flying over the Southern part of Lebanon were fired at as tensions rise between the two countries. According to a statement the Lebanese military shot at four planes flying over southern Lebanon but did not strike the jets although the jets then flew to a higher altitude.

According to the Lebanese this happens daily but they usaully dont fire at the jets.

Israel has a strong air defence and military system and that is also the strongest part of the Israeli army.

Many illegal aliens working for airports in the US

New York, USA – Americans are shocked to find out that dozens of illegal immigrants works at sensitive areas in the biggest airports in the US. The illegal aliens all have security badges approved by the Transportation Security Administration that was created after the 2001 terrorist attacks to protect the airlines.

This shows how flawed airport security is in the US. The Transportation Security Administration also failed to detect fake Social Security numbers and other fake documents provided by the illegal immigrants.

It was also discovered in a recent probe that people handling the cargo did not receive background checks.

Taiwan wants to ban U.S beef imports

The Deputy United States Trade representative Demetrios Marantis and Jim Miller from Undersecretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services has released a statement saying that the steps taken by Taiwan is unwarranted and unnecessary because there is nothing wrong with American beef exports. And the United States have stated that they are disappointing in the steps Taiwan is taking to have their exports barred:

“We are deeply concerned and disappointed by reports that Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan has taken initial steps toward the passage of an amendment to the Food Sanitation Act that contains provisions that would unjustifiably bar the import of certain U.S. beef and beef products.

“This amendment’s provisions do not have a basis in science or fact and thus in no way serve to protect Taiwan’s food supply. If passed, this amendment would represent a new barrier to U.S. beef exports to Taiwan, and would constitute a unilateral abrogation of a bilateral agreement concluded in good faith by the United States with Taiwan just two months ago. The Taiwan authorities should consider very carefully the impact that passage of the amendment in its current form would have on Taiwan’s reputation as a reliable trading partner and responsible member of the international community. Science and facts – not politics or hyperbole – should govern our trade and economic relations.

“The United States has implemented a comprehensive set of measures, regulations, and practices that are science-based, consistent with the guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) for minimizing the risk posed by BSE. The OIE is recognized by the World Trade Organization (WTO) as the relevant standard-setting body for regulations relating to animal health. These measures allow us to ensure consumers in the United States, Taiwan and elsewhere that U.S. beef and beef products –including offals and ground beef — are safe, and millions of American families enjoy these products every day.

“We have worked closely with Taiwan to provide all information necessary for Taiwan to fully evaluate these measures in the preparation of the Department of Health’s final risk assessment, which determined that U.S. beef and beef products are safe. In the interests of science-based trade with Taiwan, the United States has provided research, data, scientific experts, technical assistance, as well as detailed information regarding U.S. risk mitigation measures, all of which have underscored the safety of the relevant U.S. beef and beef products.

“After over two years of extensive negotiations and scientific and technical exchanges, we concluded an agreement, the “Protocol of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE)-Related Measures for the Importation of Beef and Beef Products for Human Consumption from the Territory of the Authorities Represented by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT),” on expanded market access for U.S. beef and beef products. The Protocol is science-based, consistent with the OIE guidelines, the domestic legal obligations of both sides, as well as the findings of Taiwan’s own risk assessment. The Protocol thus provides further assurances that U.S. beef and beef products to be exported to Taiwan – which are the same products that are consumed by Americans at home – are safe.

“This is a serious matter that concerns us greatly and we are monitoring the legislative process very closely.”

New report shows flaws in GM seeds

A new report by the Organic Center shows us that the amount of herbicides used on GM ( genetically engineered) crops went up dramtically in the last 10 years as weeds seem to adapt to Roundup and Glyphosate. The new report found that more and more herbicides are needed.

Genetically-engineered corn, soybeans, and cotton now account for the majority of acres planted to these three crops. A model was developed that utilizes official, U.S. Department of Agriculture pesticide use data to estimate the differences in the average pounds of pesticides applied on GE crop acres, compared to acres planted to conventional, non-GE varieties.

The basic finding is that compared to pesticide use in the absence of GE crops, farmers applied 318 million more pounds of pesticides over the last 13 years as a result of planting GE seeds. This difference represents an average increase of about 0.25 pound for each acre planted to a GE trait.

GE crops are pushing pesticide use upward at a rapidly accelerating pace. In 2008, GE crop acres required over 26% more pounds of pesticides per acre than acres planted to conventional varieties. The report projects that this trend will continue as a result of the rapid spread of glyphosate-resistant weeds.

Data from the Department of Agriculture in the US was used.

The study also found that not only did presticide use go up but the use of Roundup also increased. Many farmers now decide to switch back to conventional seeds since the GM seeds are resistant to weeds. In the past Roundup killed all weeds, now they only kill some weeds and where farmers could only use Roundup they now also use more toxic chemicals.

Obama's ‘declassification center’ , documents that dont matter

Washington, USA –  In a new move to keep the people happy Barack Obama releases over 400 million documents that stretches back to World War 2. In a statement on the White House website they said the following:

President Obama has issued a new executive order on “Classified National Security Information” (the Order) that addresses the problem of over-classification in numerous ways and will allow researchers to gain timelier access to formerly classified records.

  • It establishes a National Declassification Center at the National Archives to enable agency reviewers to perform collaborative declassification in accordance with priorities developed by the Archivist with input from the general public.
  • For the first time, it establishes the principle that no records may remain classified indefinitely and provides enforceable deadlines for declassifying information exempted from automatic declassification at 25 years.
  • For the first time, it requires agencies to conduct fundamental classification guidance reviews to ensure that classification guides are up-to-date and that they do not require unnecessary classification.
  • It eliminates an Intelligence Community veto of certain decisions by the Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel that was introduced in the Bush order.

They want to promote Openness according to the White House but this is far from openness because these documents dont matter. The real documents that should be released is things like the Copyright treaty in which Obama classified as top secret and was leaked on the internet.

While they "promote" openness on one side that does not matter Barack Obama signs executive orders to keep much more important things away from the public eye.

Israel recalls all diplomats for conference

The biggest official conference is taking place in Israel during December 27-31. They have recalled all their diplomats to attend the conference, they say, over global challenges that is facing Israel in the upcoming New Year. This is the first time in Israels history that they have done this.

There has also been reports that Israels top nuclear officials was in attendance.

It is really big that Israel has done this so soon after Iran has started their nuclear programs and there is civil unrest all over Iran. Israel has always held their cards close it is hard to believe they would botch up the ‘surprise’ element by arranging such large and public meeting if they are planning a attack.

Everyone knows a united front is the best way to go and Israel always strives for the best. So the fact that they are recalling all diplomats might just be them trying to pan out what they are going to say to the whole world and that all of their people know what’s going on.

But like most people who read and heard about the meeting and that all their diplomats had to be there, alarm bells went off and believe Israel is planning something big. We can only speculate what Israel is planning that’s if they are planning something. Seeing as Russia and China is threatening third world war, any decisions Israel will be making will effect all of us.I
