BEE and AA - Why South Africa has a lack of doctors

Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 11:38
The daughter of my parents friends have always wanted to be a doctor. At least as far as I can remember. Now, she was born after apartheid ended or about the same time, had no contribution to it whatsoever. Today she wants to become a doctor but cant, the laws and regulations of BEE and AA have messed up her plans for becoming a doctor. Why is this? Well to study for a doctor white people need 92% to pass which is close to impossible, while black and coloured people need around 70% to pass. For them to be in the same class studying as doctors means that the black or coloured learners most probably are not that bad off, if they can afford something like studying for a doctor. So the fact that white people needs more to pass, not just a little but a whopping 20% more what are they saying about black and coloured people? Are they stupid? Well I dont think they are stupid. Because of apartheid? Why, if they can be in the same class do they have to blame something on apartheid to make black people and coloured people better or give them a bigger chance than white people? I blame this on BEE and AA. So many white people's lives have been destroyed because of this. Many white learners cant get more than 90 and they fail, whereas the same learners they study with pass because they are black or coloured. That's messed up.
