Selling domains on ebay

There are certain things to consider when selling domains on ebay. Sometimes its not worth selling domains on ebay and you just wont get the amount of money that you want for the domain. But there are certain tips when selling domains on ebay.

For instance:

When selling a domain on ebay dont tell people its a 2 or 3 letter domain just to get more people to click on your listing. This will annoy people and if you cant be honest even about the domain name how do you expect anyone to buy it from you. Remember the domain name business is risky. You have to know what you are doing and who you are dealing with. Otherwise you can loose your money or domain.

So the first thing I look for when browsing domains on ebay is the honesty of the title. It says a lot about the lister.

Also, give your best and longest description of the domain you want to sell on ebay. That way you stand more of a chance of getting your domains found. But be honest. Give descriptions only that apply to your domain.

You can also increase the looks of your listing by designing and using a logo for the domain. You can also get cheap hosting and install drupal or wordpress, just so that there is something going on, on the site.

Give ideas. When selling domains on ebay you can give ideas what the domain can be used for. That will give more worth to just the domain name, if people know that they can actually do something useful with the domain.

You should also advertise your listing on blogs and wherever you can, get some exposure.

Checkdomain.com

With recent complaints about domain names being stolen from domain search sites it has become of most importance to find the right site to search for your domain. www.checkdomain.com is one I have been using for years, it’s got no fancy functions but at least you will know if you find a great domain name that they wont be stealing it. I have searched on there for almost all my domains and days later it’s still available when I buy it. Where as I have used certain others as well and the next day the domain was gone. So if you are looking for a safe place to look for domains go to www.Checkdomain.com

Is Tdnam still any good? (Domain Name After Market)

The other day I was about to sign up for the domain name after market. But then I realized I can get better domains than this on ebay. They are irrelevant and hard to spell. So instead of going for the over priced domains on TDNAM, its way better if you are real desperate to just go for ebay domains.

Did you know there are still thousands of great LLLL.nets available? Last night I found two great ones that I have not registered.

4 letter domain names on ebay is not that great

My point is what would you remember the easiest? Domainbase or dmbs? I think the easier one would be domainbase. Even though the 4 letter LLLL domain is shorter it takes longer to say. And it makes you think what those letter really are. The thing with most 4 letter domains on ebay is exactly this.

Do you go for domain name pronouncing, meaning or branding

When choosing your domain the important thing to decide is what you want your domain for. Domains for businesses should always be brandable. Brandable domain names does not mean something generally. Maybe it means something to the owners of the business but not the general public.

The best domain obviously is one that people can remember but has also something to do with your niche. For instance. This is site is domainbase. As you can see it’s a blog about domaining. So the name is both brandable and its easy to pronounce. The great thing about domains that have the keyword in is that they are easily brandable.

Local website and domain hosting versus international hosting companies and hosting

Today I tested to see what is faster. Obviously there are other thing to consider. I used a local hosting company and cpanel and I used Siteground and cpanel, uploading to siteground was way faster than any South African hosting company. Hetzner’s uploading comes close but at a price wich is way to expensive for the average blogger to setup a nice profitable site.

Serv hosting

Serv hosting is my favourite South African hosting company for domains and websites. i have had some of my domains by hetzner but they are not nice. Seriously. Just trust me on this one. Serv hosting has real human beings working for them and they always come back to you. Their domain services are cheap and if you know how to use their services correctly you can also save more money than with any other hosting company in South Africa. Serv hosting hosts about 50 domains of mine so far they have not lost one.

Domaining on Ebay sucks

Allmost everyday I go look around on ebay to find great domains because they have great domains and sell them for cheap. You can easily find a 4 letter domain name for under $20 wich is about R150 if I am correct. Buying domain on ebay is easy and fast but the problem comes with the annoying incorrect listings. I mean they list .net or anything under .com just so you can see their domains. But the problem is when you want a .com and nothing else you get 100’s of crappy other domains between the searches. So it takes you twice as long to get through everything.

Parked domains dont make money

I have never met someone that actually made a lot of money with a parked domain. Parked domains dont make money. You will see a lot of people claiming that if you park your domain you will get or make money. Especially places like Sedo. But the fact is when you park you domains you dont get traffic because there is nothing for search engines to “like” on your site. There is also nothing there for anyone to bookmark or spread it across social networks. So the best way to make money with a parked domain is to blog on it. That way you can insert ads and you can target niche markets which will be much more profitable.

.SA domains

.SA domains is for Saudi Arabia. But just think how nice it would of been to have a .SA domain in South Africa. Unfortunately we South Africans cant get a .SA domain because you need to be a Saudi Arabia citizen and have proof that you are a citizen which makes it very hard for us South Africans to get those domains.

Host your domain with Bluehost

You get 1500 gig of hosting space. That is way more than any SA hosting can give you.

You get 2500 email accounts, you really only need about 10

You get 15000 gig transfer. That is insane

You also get a free domain but be sure to read the terms and conditions first.
