How to loose weight.

Go to gym. Seriously. I have learned that its the best way to go about it. Unless you prefer to start in sport like riding bicycle or jogging but just move more, anything. But personally I prefer a gym were I would be to embarrassed to  give up so I push myself harder than I have ever done before :)

I have always battled with my weight. Up then down. I have only been truly in good shape twice in my life first was for my wedding secondly was during a waitressing job in the London were I worked literary my ass off. Then I became pregnant had a c-section just as I could start thinking about doing something about my weight I was pregnant once more and had another c-section. At this point ,4 years later, I really thought all  hope was lost I was never going to look good again! Along came personal trainer I needed someone to tell me what to do and how much for how long. I am not there yet. But I am making progress. I feel a sense of achievement when I have done my whole list of things on the list the trainer gave me and survived.

Game your way to better health

According to an Overseas Woman’s Fitness magazine in a section titled "100 Ways to burn 100 Calories" No. 71 on the list was "Play some vids" Instructions were, quite a bit stereotypical, Go over to your boyfriends house and get on his Playstation 3. In-accurately assuming that woman actually do not own such devices.

Said magazine also went as far as stating that playing video games burns as much as 50% more calories than "athletic" sex. This happens to exclude the Wii and Dance Dance Revolution.

Anyway, with evidence scientifically backed by the British Medical Journal,a  measly 40 minutes of thumb tapping on that game pad will burn 100 calories, and according to no. 55, Wii gamers burn an additional 40% more calories than the other gamers.

So after some quick mathematics we can deduce that 1 hour of gaming burns 150 calories, there for Wii-ing will burn off 210 calories, so basically one hour or hormonal entertainment will only give you 75 calories burnt off, looks like the female gaming community may just start increasing at a much faster rate and well men, I guess it is time for us to start hiding the PS3 now hey.

Cold here in Cape Town

Actually somerset west. Its so cold right now my hands and feet almost have no feeling. This must be the coldest its been in a few years. The Helderberg mountains or hottentots holland mountains are covered with snow. Floods have wrecked some farms. I wonder what’s next.

“Flexible Love” Folding Chair

This chair is absolutely amazing. It can save space and when you need it you can just pull it out.  I dont know if they really sell this chair and if you can buy it but I’d buy one if they have it for sale here in South Africa.

How’s your work enviroment?

The ability to work on the internet as a full time job and the success thereof will depend on your working enviroment. That is the reason you see these big companies and online empires have these great offices. Because if your working enviroment is not comfortable you wont be able to reach your full capacity working wise. There are a few things when working that will effect you and if you make sure your working enviroment is just right you will be able to be more productive.

The lights in a office or building could effect you negative and could make you way more tired if they are in the wrong setting and if they are to bright they could give you headaches.

Fresh air is a neccessity and if you dont have that you will also get tired way faster than in a office with fresh air. Working in a stuffy, dirty air enviroment will not benefit you or the company you work for as you concentration is almost double when having fresh air to breath in and out.

Seat, Some people sit so uncomfortable but either its way to much of a mission to clean up your working space or you just cant but if you sit uncomfortable you obviously wont enjoy your job, you will get tired quicker and wont want to stay on the seat for to long.

Coffee, Who can work without a nice cup of coffee. If you are limited to one cup of coffee at work you really should fire your boss.
I guess that’s about it for now. What Working tips do you have?

Make it Happen - By Muhammad Karim

A three-word motto which helps me get things done: Make It Happen. I have it placed just below my monitor on a square piece of green paper with the three words written in red. These three little words always seem to push me forward on my quest to write, spread knowledge, help people, educate people, encourage creativity, and encourage movement. Whenever there’s something to be done, no matter what it is, I just know one thing… I need to Make it Happen.

I was sitting in wonder as to what could I possibly write as a guest post for From the Old and here it is. A short indulgence on what I see drives people away from lazy meanderings to actually achieving something. That inner voice within each of us that we either choose to ignore, or we listen wholeheartedly to it; either way it irritates you, nags you into action.

So the first step I guess is to listen to yourself, look within and try to see what it is you want to achieve in life. It may take some time but after a while it will become clear to you as to what you have to do. The next step is to do it.

So how do we “Make it Happen”?

I’ll lay out just two things which have made me get a little bit closer to achieving my goals.

  1. Make a List – write down what you want to achieve and go for them one at a time. Long-term, short-term, it doesn’t matter… just make sure it’s written down. Read it out loud everyday, or at least look at it everyday. This will focus you on what you want and remove other distractions. It keeps your priorities top of mind.

  1. Start Something – Do anything. Read a book on something which may lead you to completing something on your list, talk to someone about something you’re interested in, paint a picture of what you want to achieve. Do something! Take a step towards what you want.

That’s it… a three word mantra and the two points above. There is no secret to Success, if you really want to succeed, you will find a way. The only reason some of us never make it happen is because we are either subconsciously afraid of what we want to achieve, or we don’t know what we want. Don’t let this happen to you.

Follow your heart, and Make it Happen!

Learning photography: The eye viewer is important when choosing to buy a camera

I am not a professional photographer but a I know a bit, at least I know to get a camera with a eye viewer. The reason for this is because a few weeks ago a friend of mine asked what camera she should get. So because I am a Nikon and Cannon fan I told her to go with one of those. Just a normal camera that almost anyone can afford.

So she went to Somerset Mall and into Incredible Connection where she found a Nikon camera. The next day I went taking a few photos with a powershot A530 and enjoyed myself until I just could not see anything on the lcd screen and had to look through the eye viewer because the sun was to bright. That is when I realised how important that little square is on any camera.

I immediately told my friend but she decided to buy her choice. So that’s how I learned the value of the eye viewer of a camera. Small and really irrelevant post here on my blog but one day you might run into the same situation when you want to go do some photography and cant decide on which camera to take

Using the roof or ceiling of a small house for storage.

Living in a small house we sometimes forget about the extra space we own in our roofs. But the roof is in fact a great storage place for things you dont use so often and you still get to keep that extra clutter within your house. The roof is a safe storage place and it keeps your items safe.

But before you go up there right now there are things to consider when storing things in the roof and you should make sure that you are not doing any of these things.

- Dont store anything close to cables

Storing anything close to a cable can cause fire or it can damage the cables wich also poses a electric shock risk.

- Make sure your roof can hold your items

Here in South Africa we have very thin ceilings and putting to much wait without strengthning it first will make the roof break

- Keep the geezer clear and dont stop the extra water from coming out of the vent holes.

Blocking the holes in geezer is dangerous and can cause it to blow up. Leave the geezer alone.

- Make sure you have a safe way of getting in the roof

More old people die of falling than anything else. So make sure you get up there safely.

I guess that is it. So pack and use that roof as storage.

Always resize your photographs before submitting them online

One way of protecting your images and photography and have 100% proof that a image or photograph belongs to you is to always make it a few sizes smaller before submitting it online. That way no one else can claim to have taken the photograph because you have the original size which is not easy to proof wrong.

There are many ways to stop people from stealing your images including watermarks but I guess the easiest way is just to resize you images.
The best way to also make money from photographs while showing people how they look is to make them about 800×600 and if someone wants to buy it you can send them the original picture.

Get a wendy house or wood house outside to store your junk and add space to your small house.

A great way to have a nice clean house with a lot of space, especially if you live in a small house is to build a wendy house outside. Often there is a enough space outside that is not used while the inside of the house is stuffed to the roof with junk. So get a wendy house and use that space outside to make your living better on the inside of the house. Wendy houses in South Africa are not that expensive and they will install it for you. So all you need is a slot and out with the junk. Especially if you dont really want to throw the stuff away or sell your old furniture. Having a wendy house might just be your answer.

Adding mirrors in a small house to give the effect of more space

Living in a small house it can become really cramped. The walls sometimes look so close to each other that anything hanging on the wall would just make it look even smaller. But there is a sollution. Mirrors. Using mirrors will give the effect that the room is bigger than it actually is. But those mirrors must be used at the correct places. Usually mirrors work great behind a couch because no one really walks past the mirror and it remains cleaner for longer. Not just that it’s out of the way and one does not really go up close to the mirror. Mirrors are a great way of adding articficial space to a small house. As long as one dont overdo the mirror effects.
