Vista sucks.

First the few days ago when starting to learn Windows Vista on the new laptop it was working great.

Now i am starting to think of installing Ubuntu again. The only thing that lets me stay on Vista is probably Windows Live writer.

Tonight I was editing text files, working with xampp.

But this afternoon I was working with big files, the computer did not crash.

So now that i work with small text files it crashes. It just does not make sense.

The blue screens are starting to annoy me.

At least when Ubuntu crashes I cant say I payed a couple of thousand for it.

Windows and opensource

I have been using Linux now for some time and really like it. So the other day I got a new laptop with Windows Vista and the so called ultimate edition. I thought I’d give it a try.

Windows Vista is however not that bad, well not as great as Ubuntu but you can use your windows programs again.

The problem comes when i want to install all those great apps i used to have in Ubuntu. I tried doing a search for recordmdesktop which is a great linux app for recording your desktop but for Windows i only find shareware and those trialware junk.

When i do the same search for linux, something like record desktop or capture or whatever all i get is FREE software and opensource which just makes life much easier.

Trying out the new Kubuntu

The new Kubuntu is out, not the official version but I think its alpha. Still, its great. I am a big fan of Gnome but I thought why not give KDE a try. I have’nt really worked on KDE since pclinuxos 0.92

Browsing around and opening programs are really fast. It might just be my imagination but its open and click. Now waiting.

The design and the theme almost reminds me of PClinuxos, my other favourite linux distro. Something that is new to me is the Adept Installer. I think its great as well. I quickly went to it and found firefox 3. So I am writing this while I am installing Firefox 3. I was also suprised to see that you can install Firefox 3 with Adblock firefox extension.

The background seems a bit overwhelming but i as I am typing this i am getting used to it. Kubuntu is brilliant. Same as the normal Ubuntu.

Just a quick post.

Blogging with Ubuntu Live cd and not being able to restart is starting to suck

I wonder how long I would be able to blog without a operating system. As I said earlier, I am working without a OS. I only have a livecd and Firefox. Although I have started installing some plugins for Firefox I dont think I can for much longer use only a livecd.

Here are the downsides so far:

My plugins will be gone when I restart

My password history will be gone

I cant just quick type when I restart because browser history will be gone.

Everything in the cache will be gone.

My wmv and mp3 codecs will be gone.

Ok but this is now all the downsides of having to restart.
Here are the downsides I am experiencing right now.

No use for installing programs which I need

Cd takes so long to load something from when I need it.

Firefox is getting slower and slower.

I will see how long I can stick it out with no OS. So far

3 Days.
