This is the most naïve load of nonsense I have ever read. Clearly you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I am a young, well educated South African living in London. I have a strong network of South African friends who have been here longer than what I have, and I will be eternally grateful for the help and advise given to me by them upon my arrival in the country.

It is difficult enough to pick up and move your life to another country. Why then, would you make it even more arduous by disconnecting yourself from support and familiarity? It is true and unfortunate that a small number of South Africans have developed a bad reputation. However, it is by no means the majority and my experience is that in general the reputation of South Africans is to the contrary. I have found that South Africans are seen to be hard workers who are adaptable, ambitious, and extremely competent. If this was not the case then why is it that so many South Africans, who travel to the UK on Working Holiday visas, have been sponsored by their employers to remain in the country once these visas have expired. I would not imagine that it would be in the best interest of companies to spend a rather large sum of money on sponsoring their employees if they did not feel it was a worthwhile investment.

I am sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience but I do not believe that it is reason enough to discourage people from making the most of an innate sense of camaraderie which we, as South Africans all share.
