The end of a free press

What an appalling situation would be created if Koni Media Holdings succeeded in its bid to take control of Johncom.
That would effectively be the end of a free press, and the press would only be used for propaganda and “good news” stories — obviously always favouring the ANC.
One can only hope and pray that sanity will prevail and the board of Johncom will keep its wits about itself in this situation.
This country cannot afford at this stage to have the media taken over by the government.
We are already in a situation where we have been deprived of international news channels such as the BBC and CNN; now they want to silence the media.
We are not progressing, but regressing in a serious way. — CM Gold
