A recent story on IOL got me thinking about this where they talk about the sea swallowing up Cape Town’s beaches. Cape Town has some of the best beaches in the world, but this might be a thing of the past thanks to global warming, while some still claim it does not exist, Global warming is busy eating up the beaches.
The other day we drove past the beach and we got into a discussion that the Strand beach water was never that high, it has never been as high constantly as it is now. Sure the water came over the wall a lot when I was younger here in the Helderberg but now its coming over the wall way more often, at least once a week. The buildings in the strand, or high rise buildings rather has changed the wind direction also affecting the currents. So with global warming we must enjoy the beaches here in Gordons Bay and Strand in the Helderberg.
