Grabouw is the biggest food export in south africa 62% of the country, which is very impressive but if you actually go to the town you would never have guest it. The town itself is in very poor condition I can remember as a child how lovely it was now it’s run down and looks poor but there are some renovations in process and I look forward to see the results. The best part of Grabouw is the area surrounding the town, the farms. O it is so beautiful! As a child I used to go visit family who had a farm there and I loved to play around in the apple orchards especially early in the morning picking fruit from the tree and eating it is a experience all on its own. There is alot to see if you like to explore, a person can drive for hours. There is this peacefulnesses over the farms and the air is fresh and everything is so lovely from the forest to the mountains the fruit orchards especially in spring the whole place is taken over by pink and white blossoms. The people that live there are realy friendly and cheerful but on the main road, the N1, it’s very dangerous people drive terrible and fast. But the secenry quite makes up for that. There is a 3 star hotel outside of Grabouw in a valley, Houw Hoek Inn is it’s name. The Houw Hoek Inn is the oldest licensed hotel in South Africa. Most of the ground floor dates from 1779 making it an historical site. It has one of the largest gum trees in South Africa on it’s grounds creating a lovely covering for the hotel.
