Turn your roof into a grass patch

Going green involves doing a decent job of it, one of which is turning your roof into a grass patch like these houses in Iceland. People have even started to make money out of doing it and now sell it in tiles which you can plug into each other. This is great, especially if you dont have a big yard you can also contribute by growing grass on your roof. Dont forget that about that 45 degree vegetable garden. This shouldnt be that expensive if you do it yourself though.
Going small
Here in South Africa especially you get huge houses with only one or two people living in it. Going smaller will save you on electricity and water bills. It will also save you on maintenance.

Use nature
Building your house totally using excisting things nature provides, depending on how you do this you might save money but the chances are you will spend more money building this than the small house above.
