My theory used to be quantity first then quality. While this might be true I would also like to say the more quality you write when starting a blog the quicker the blog would grow. People are not after quantity after all but they want to read interesting articles. Sometimes we might think that quantity loaded with keywords brings more blog traffic but infact when you write quality and focused content your traffic will rise from being from search engines to social bookmarking sites. Which might be the way of the future as search engines become irrelevant. Search engine optimization might not have such a big future with the rise of social bookmarking sites. Therefore its more important to focus on getting your sites bookmarked than it is doing SEO. Anyway if you type quality content you writing would contain those keywords anyway and if you use wordpress, it’s pretty much SEO’s out of the box. Well you can also get some SEO plugins to make sure. The point is a new blog should get as much traffic as good the content is. Whenever I start a new blog and I work on it for a month I target at least 10 000 visitors and I think that is what anybody should aim for.
The internet is huge and there are millions of people online. You can get them to come to your site by writing great articles. Most blogs that just exist to make money can not provide quality content but follows the flow of what goes on, on the internet. Those bloggers that write with passion is the ones that would pass the famous three months mark.
So my guess would be any new blog that types quality content should aim for 10 000 visitors for the first month.
