Neotel Disconnecting all the time

Sunday, March 22, 2009 - 09:38
On Thursday we got Neotel at home and it sure was fast, for the first time in years I could really connect online and it reminded me of why I wanted to work on the internet as a job. Well Friday morning when I woke up I tried to download a small file and that's when the trouble started with Neotel. It appears that there is some error that wont let you download more than 1mb or even less. So upon downloading something you just get disconnected from the internet. I've been on the phone with Neotel since Friday to fix this but no one knows what's going on over there. It wasnt until i said that i'm recording them and posting it to my site that they actually started giving me answers. Fact of the matter is that the lines are still broken and for R999 a month this is not the service I thought we would be getting. Even Telkom can do better than this. For the moment I am a bit annoyed with Neotel and want a refund for the past three days even though it would just amount to R100.

It's a pity they are screwing up like they are doing, everyone was cheering at Neotel for taking on Telkom, now they seem like just another Telkom.

Yep. Although it seems to be working again. I'm starting to like it again, as long as they dont disconnect again. That will just annoy me.

How often does it disconnect? Telkom disconnects and stays down for hours at a time about once a month.

It disonnects for about half hour.

At least it doesn't disconnect for 3-4 days at a time like Telkom occasionally does.

I'll go nuts if it would disconnect for 3-4 days. That's insane.

I've been dealing with this same thing for the past month. The call center folks said they'd have an engineer call me back in 24 hrs, then in 48 hrs, then the third time I called them back after not hearing anything the guy said he knew it was a problem and they had no idea when they'd get around to it. Its been a month with no calls from Neotel so finally I wrote a letter to the head of Customer Service. Who knows if that will do anything.

That sucks, not great customer support.

What you can do is:

Unplug the modem, restart your computer. Dont just unplug it, pull out the battery.

Then plug it back in at the power and the pc after you restarted.

That worked for me.
