Dear John - Movie Trailer

Dear John is 100% a chick flick. It has all the sappy romance and the drama that comes with it. What is surprising everyone though is how well it is doing at the box office. It took Avatar's first place in earnings this weekend. Everyone was waiting to see what movie will take Avatars place but no one expected it will be Dear John.

Dear John is about a young soldier John Tyree who is in the Army Special Forces. He is on leave and meets a young college girl, Savannah Lynn Curtis who is on spring break. They have two weeks together before John has to return to the army. He takes Savannah to meet his dad who raised him alone. After he leaves John and Savannah write each other all the time and John starts to live for her letters. This all takes place over a period of seven years and during that time a lot happens.

There are four main characters in Dear John.

John is played by Channing Tatum who has played in other small budget chick flicks. The most memorable one of these is Step Up made in 2006 where he played the male lead. Channing suits this role he has the look of a naughty boy that girls love with those puppy eyes giving him a lovable sexy look. The strong silent type suits him and that is precisely what John is.

Amanda Seyfried who is playing Savanna is another story. Amanda has mostly featured in television series such as SCI and Veronica Mars but her most resent success has to be Mamma Mia. Since then we have seen a lot more of her on the red carpets and in movies. Her soft ethereal beauty is perfect for playing Savanna who is in the beginning of the movie a soft spoken innocent young girl who becomes stronger and more outspoken toward the end. The critics so far has loved her performance in Dear John saying it's the movies best part.

Richard Jenkins plays Johns father, Mr Tyree. Richard has been nominated for a Oscar for his role as the leading male in The Visitor. He is not the only veteran actor in the movie, Henry Thomas plays Tim who is a friend of both John and Savanna. Henry Thomas is most known as Elliott the little boy who befriended E.T. in E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial made in 1982

If you like crying at the movies I think this will appeal to you. Dear John can be categorized as a drama, war movie and romance. There are a lot of heartbreaking parts, I do not want to spoil the movie so I will leave it at that.
