Greenpeace gets $30 000 penalty for Mount Rushmore stunt
Mount Rushmore, USA – Earlier this year Greenpeace USA hanged a protest banner on Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the US, on 8 July 2009 they scaled the mountain and hung the banner. They got arrested afterward and charged with federal misdemeanors.
They were fined $30 000 in penalties and if the face more penalties within the next 5 years it will be $100 000 or up to $100 000.
Since Greenpeace USA did their stunt security at the memorial were upgraded and tours also have been limted.
