Google Earth usually updates about 1 or at most 3 cities but this week they updated the buildings of 5 cities and three of those were in South Africa. Maybe it is because the FIFA 2010 world cup is coming to South Africa that they expect more people to browse Google Earth and it seems like it was a great idea because now South Africans can enjoy Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria on Google Earth.
The new updated imagery for the buildings are also outstandingly clear and of high quality.
The other two cities that got updated this week is Mulhouse, France and Barcelona in Spain.
You can see the video bellow of Barcelona’s update.
Today, Barcelona joins its Spanish neighbors Madrid and Valencia as 3D cities in Google Earth. If you’re a fan of architecture, Barcelona offers a visual feast. The mix of old and new is truly facinating. It contains architectural wonders that date back to medieval times, in addition to modern architecture designed by critically acclaimed architects.
