South Africa’s Health department have constant controversy. They are constantly in the new for something that has happened or gone wrong. People are dying because of poor leadership and i think it is utterly pathetic how this can go on. I have heard horror stories of our public hospitals but the people do not have much choice in the matter. I am not going to make as if I’m an expert who can solve all the problems and give the perfect solution. But one thing I do know that there is something seriously amiss if our health department spend more on their telephone bill than on new medical equipment! And when five babies die because they contracted klebsiella because nurses failed to wash they’re hands and then they refuse to take blame and apologize to the grieving parents. Saying if they did they would be admitting blame for the death of the babies. Well I would certainly hope they would admit guilt. Our health minister ,Tshabalala-Msimang, is blaming lack of space and being understaffed as the problem. So that is not an excuse its admitting to guilt that die department is guilty of not doing it’s job by not providing everything to help people and indirectly causing deaths because of their incompetence and laziness.

This might sound harsh but look at the state of our country? I am proud to be called an South African but embarrassed in what the government call health care. We have the largest HIV & Aids rate in the world, tb is rampant and we have so many baby deaths from unnatural causes I have lost count. The world health officials think our health minister is an joke and they seem to have fired the most competent person because she would dare to show her disapproval of the state of affairs publicly. I am glad our president is all for womans rights but he should sack Tshabalala-Msimang and get someone who knows what they are doing. I think if he does that people of this country might even start to like him.
