Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs - Movie Trailer & Poster

Cloudy with the chance of Meatballs is based on a childrens book. It is a creative movie like no other. The whole story plot is so unbelievable but also inventive a real adventure.

There is this inventor named Flint Lockwood who dreams of being a great inventor. Then one day invents this machine that turns water into food.

There are many opportunity during the film for gags and laughter and to me is the perfect thing to watch with small children. As you would see in the trailer that this a very imaginative movie.

Remake of Wizard of Oz featuring Dekota Fanning

Warner Brothers has decided they wanted to remake the classic Wizard of Oz. I would normally have said they are ruining another perfectly fine film but they are getting Dekota Fanning to play the lead :) now that made me happy. Dekota are one of those rare stars that can actually act. There is going to be a rather large twist to the plot though it won't be the original story line. The plot is about Dorothy's granddaughter but the story line is apparently darker than the first that is bad news. So it means it will probably not be a family movie I can go watch with my children? I will reserve my judgment for a while but I truly hope they do not turn it into a horror sci-phi movie that would be awful.

CNN on swine flu

Because the younger population, from 6 months to 24 years, is at high risk of developing complications from the H1N1 virus, the National Institutes of Health is conducting a clinical trial specifically to make sure the vaccine is safe for children. Vaccine developers hope to get the doses out by mid-October, before the flu season really shifts into high gear.

South Africans are not properly informed about swine flu - H1N1 virus

August 6, 2009 by Daizy

At the beginning of the whole swine flu thing I said that South Africa would be hit hard I just had no idea that people would be so stupid about it. I don't want to sound mean or insult people it's just a fact. I understand it is just like flu but the mortality rate is much higher than normal flu and it is easy transferable. That is why the quarantine whole families in other countries. After two deaths I would think people would take it more seriously but they have not.

I met one mother of a little girl in my daughters kindergarten class this morning outside the school, where she casually informs me she has swine flu. This is after she took her 4 year old little girl to a class full of 4 - 3 year old children. She informed she has been released from her job until the doctor gave the all clear, she is an English teacher at an primary school. My daughter is in recovery from normal flu so she would be more susceptible to the H1N1 virus. To say I was horrified put it lightly. This woman was walking around not realizing the virus spreads through air and she just exposed the whole school to the virus.

It is the Doctors job to inform authorities and then explain to the woman how highly contagious swine flu is. They just tell the people to get a lot of bed rest. Unfortunately the government is trying so hard not to let the population panic they are down playing the virus so much people are treating it just as if it's just another cold. People would be more scared they would get laryngitis than swine flu to me it's the same thing, if not worse. They don't even give them masks to wear so that they cannot contaminate other people. To me this is negligent and dangerous.

Jacob Zuma: Our nation is in good state - YEAH RIGHT!

This guy must be on some kind of drugs because how can you live in a country like South Africa where even the leaders and those that are supposed to run the country are corrupt. Even when one of his own hooligan drivers killed someone.

How can he say that our nation is in a good state when the ANC ripped 2 million voters from their rights? When there are were a staggering 23 453 children raped, 1 075 murdered and 20 879 assaulted last year alone. (citizen.co.za, Zasucks.com)

How can you call this nation in good state when there is a genocide against farmers, white people are being discriminated against and you steal tax payers money and spend it on making yourself fat.

Well the answer to this is, if you are in the ANC, this is all good news because you are the one that gets to rip everyone off, steal, and cause chaos.

The President of the Republic, Kgalema Motlanthe, reminded us during the State of the Nation address on 6 February that our democracy is solid and that our nation is in a good state. There is a tendency to forget to celebrate the wonderful achievements of the last 15 years.

Jacob Zuma

Let me Translate that

The president of the newly found banana republic and corruption state babysitter Kgalema Motlanthe, reminded us during the State of the Nation on 6 February, that our democracy is screwed up. There is a tendency to forget what wonderful achievements we have reached during the past 15 years.

Namely, we screwed up Eskom and the entire country's electricity. We freed Mugabe and let him reign like a mad drunk dictator. We fired the president, we screwed up the water system, we let all the police be corrupt and give the criminals weapons so they can take it out on non gun bearing citizens.

Dont forget we also made sure that it would be impossible for ordinary law abiding citizens to carry guns. Not criminal, no gun.

One thing we should also not forget is that we have totally fucked up the water supply of the country, that is one step forward to being like some foreign place without water where no one wants to go to.

That last thing I want to mention is that we have successfully chased away 2% of the population of South Africa and dont forget, that's the 2% of the richest and most educated South Africans.

Yes, we call this wonderful progress.

Al Quaeda blames Barack Obama for Israel-Gaza conflict

January 7, 2009 by Daizy

rocket_into_israelSeeing that the conflict goes back to 1960 I cannot fathom why they can blame him. Apparently they believe it's Obama's present to Israel. Huh?! Ok how can a war that was started by Hamas even remotely be blamed on Obama or America. The way the Muslims continue to think that the world revolves around hating them, is seriously clouding their judgment. Hamas continual rocket fire into Israel started this current battle, not Obama. Then they people argue put Hamas has the right to be angry because they live in a segregated community. Now flashback to when the border was made and the Israeli's was forcefully removed from their homes to give it to the Palestinians, all the Arab countries agreed upon the boundaries. Actually everyone was happy to force Israel into giving Gaza to the Palestinians. What a mistake. The Israeli's created and oasis where there was desert. They built all the hospitals and schools they had flourishing greenhouses. Where is all those things? Destroyed by Hamas for some inexplicable reason. Their hate so much stronger than their common sense. I saw on tv how the Israeli settlers cried over they're homes and farms as they where being forced from their homes. Back then it was green and beautiful now it's becoming desert again.

Green houses before Palestinians took over Gaza

They burned them all 14$million worth greenhouses destroyed for arms smuggling tunnels.

greenhouses_after_pulloutgreenhouses_arms_smuggling_tunnel

The point is the Israeli's gave in once just to be attacked again. Now the whole world is screaming for Israel to stop the fighting but what of Hamas? Should they not carry some of the burden, most of them are cowards who think if they shoot a rocket while between homes of families with children they would get away with it. That is why so many children are getting hurt because Hamas is sheltering themselves behind them. I am all worked up now because watching on the news how they concentrate on children being carried into the hospital very view ask the question why was the Israeli's shooting where there are civilians. It's because the rocket fire is coming from there.

The Tale of Despereaux - Movie Trailer

January 4, 2009 by Daizy

The Tale of Despereaux should get the award for the most adorable movie of the year. It is so cute. Suitable from babies to adults. I'll definitely watch it with my children.

the_tale_of_despereaux_poster_1the_tale_of_despereaux_poster_3The movie is about a small mouse with big ears named Despereaux. Who lives under a castle in a 'mouse village'. Despereaux is a very different from all the other mice, he is brave. The mouse community thrive on fear they all have it and sees Despereaux as weird and unmouselike. so he gets expelled. He wants to become a knight so he goes to live in the castle and meets the princes. When she is captured by a mob of rats Despereaux goes after her.

The plot might have been cheezy if it was not done in this funny way where you can laugh at things that might have been sad if it was written any differently. This is refreshingly cute. And I love the culture change. These days all good animation is so influenced by American culture it has become annoying.Despereaux is like a breath of fresh air :)

I have collected a couple of posters of Despereaux click on images to enlarge.

The Princess and the Frog - Movie trailer

December 22, 2008 by Daizy

the_princess_and_the_frog Yipee! At last a new princess movie from Disney! It's been years since we have had one of these most probably because children have changed so much since I was a little girl. But I am so excited about this movie can't wait to go watch it with my little princess shell just love it, mainly because of the frog she loves frogs hehe. Now the only problem I have is I can't find any info of the film not even at the official site. All I got is that it's about a African American girl named Princess Tiana in the old Louisiana during the New Orleans' French Quarter. Even though that is it this tiny trailer hints at great promise of a lovely movie with tons of laughter :)

Hotel for dogs - movie trailer

December 22, 2008 by Daizy

This looks like a fun movie to watch as a family. It has been years since they have made a good children's movie, not animated that is, so I'm looking forward to this one. The plot seems pretty straight forward two kids have a dog that they're guardians won't let them keep. So then they found this abandoned hotel where a couple of street dogs lives. The young boy makes a bunch of gadgets so that the dogs can basically look after themselves and his sister and her friends help. Everything is going well until people start complaining about hearing dogs barking then the fun starts. This is a very traditional kids story where they get up to no good, with a couple of dogs thrown in, is going to make it a favorite with children especially mine they love dogs. hotel_for_dogs
