eMarketing blabber

October 31, 2008 by evl

Yes, eMarketing sucks. If you dont like what you are doing it sucks. Blogging on the other hand is fun and not so boring. Now I personally enjoy emarketing but for most people learning the ways to market something on the internet takes years and then you have the competition. That is why you should always find the right people to do eMarketing for you. On the internet you mostly have only one shot at making a great impact with your product or service per person. So making the most of every visit or person you come in contact with on the internet is the best way of building a community but if you are only doing it for the sake of selling a product or getting people to go to your site they pick up on that quickly. If you are however passionate about a service or product and you can blog about it for days on end and you make connections that way you will find it easier to spread your brand. I think i need sleep or coffee. I am just bored.

Why suck up bloggers suck

October 22, 2008 by evl

Often i find myself stumbling upon a really crap article. One where i can clearly see it was only stumbled or bookmarked for the sake of sucking up to the blogger and it was made by someone that wants to get recognition or wants to let the blogger know they exist. These pages are annoying.

If you want someone to notice you or some blogger to know you are there, use their contact page. Email them or something but stop bookmarking and submitting sites to stumbleupon because you want to suck up to the "blogger". Its annoying.

Do you give search engines time to scan your content?

September 10, 2008 by evl

Sometimes we think if we blog a few 100 posts in a row that traffic will increase immediately. While that is true in a sense it doe snot always apply. Most search engines scan the homepage of most blogs daily but it does not scan the rest of the site and if your site goes directly to the archives like mine does you must give search engines chance to scan your content. What happens when your content disappears into the archives before it gets scanned by search engines is that slogs pick up on your rss feed and they might get scanned before you do resulting in lost traffic. A famous splog is wikio. That is one of the worst splogs on the internent and if you dont make sure you get listed before them they will for sure steal all your content. And dont even bother contacting them because they wont remove your content. The only way to get your content back form splogs like wikio is to SEO better than they do. And that means making sure your content gets scanned at a decent rate. One way is to not update your blog unless you see google or your favourite search engine has indexed your previous posted url.

The beginnings of a new wordpress theme

September 8, 2008 by evl

I just started with a new theme. After contacting people and finding out that the lowest price for the them i want is about $1500 I decided to design a wordpress magazine style theme that looks like a news site's theme since that is the type I like. And where this site is headed is more in the category first type of blog than the posts on the front page blog. When its finished i might consider selling it. I might even start my wordpress site again, the one I had got some nice visits but was to lazy to upkeep it. I dont know how other people design themes but this is how i do it. Ugly hey? Fromtheold

How to get advertisers for your website or blog

September 8, 2008 by evl

Getting advertisers for a site is never easy but by doing certain things you can get those advertisers interested in your site. It takes a lot of work to keep people interested in a site but there is something better than keeping people interested and that is by alway being on the first page of a google search. Or any other search engine. Targetting certain words on search engines or keyword targetting is the easiest way to get people to your site. Technically there are a few things you need to make it easier or more attractive for advertisers to advertise on your site. Traffic Traffic is the most important part of any website that wants to make money on the internet and getting the Advertiser's attention you have to show them that you actually get traffic by showing your stats somewhere. Search Engine Optimization Being rated high for a search term that there are many advertisers for would also look more appealing for advertisers since they know if people come to your site through that certain keyword the chances are bigger that the advertiser will also benefit. Contact page Without a contact page a blog really is incomplete. You might have all the things worked out nice but people dont really want to leave a comment somewhere to ask about advertising, they want a contact page or a email address they can contact you. Being able to contact you will also make them feel better about being able to advertise on your site because you can be contacted if there are any problems. That gives advertisers a sense of security. Advertise page A advertise page should be where you sell your blog's advertising space and convince people why its a good idea to actually advertise on your blog. There you can place your Alexa rank, you PR and traffic stats to make it more inviting. Thats about it on how to attract advertisers for your blog or website.

Fromtheold new design

August 29, 2008 by evl

Because of the size of the old look and feel we had to get another not so heavy on the bandwidth and faster loading theme.

We went for a minimal look to focus more on content and the articles we publish.

We are also upgrading quality of content and authors now should have their own usernames that blog here.

If you would like to blog on fromtheold feel free to use the contact page.

Also expect some new articles about blogging and Wordpress as we will be moving some sites here.

Contact from space, something is sending signals to earth.

August 16, 2008 by evl

I am not sure if someone got stuck on the moon or maybe a experiment gone gone wrong but the South African Signal waiters or whatever they are called have received signals from space. It came from the middle of the milky way.

Actually the discovery was made by Indlebe Radio Telescope at Durban's techonology universitey.

Apparently it was quite a strong signal and the exact location it came from is the Sagittarius A, centre of the milky way galaxy.

Scientists in South Africa have detected radio signals from beyond the solar system for the first time
