Somalia Pirates or Volunteer Coast Guard of Somalian ocean?

April 13, 2009 by Daizy

I have read four rather disturbing articles on the 'Pirates' in Somalia. I will just start to make one thing clear I am not defending the acts of the Somalians just trying to show their point of view. Firstly a little bit of history and geography on Somalia.

The government of Somalia collapsed in 1991 and since then the people have been starving. Lets go back a little bit further - 1 July 1960 the Italian 'owned' half of Somalia gains it's independence; 26 June 1960 the British 'owned' half of Somalia gained it's independence. So basically until 1960 Somalia was split in two and then was formed as an democratic republic.

Since then it has had one failed government after the other until 1991 it completely collapsed leaving the people destitute. There is said to be an Islamic government but it's more forced on the people and most Somalians has fled. Somalia is situated in the Horn of Africa that is just by after the passage from the red sea to the Indian ocean right next to Ethiopia. Their coastline stretches over a length of 3,3000 kilometers.

That means the most of the country is along the coast and it's a long coast line. Since the collapse of the government other countries has seen this as a opportunity to loot the country of its main food supply, sea life.

The looting has become to such an extent that the people hardly catch any fish so they have resorted to patrolling the sea taxing the people who come fish from other countries. But this is not the worst part, the worst part is that some countries has decided they are going to use Somalia as an dump site for their nuclear waste. After the 2005 Tsunami there washed up barrels of nuclear waste on the beaches and 300 people died of radio active exposure. If you think I am sucking this out of my thumb go read this article at BBC news.

It gives all the facts of the waste found and the side effects and who they think dumped it. (I read the comments on some of the articles I read on this topic and people where very skeptical about the facts. But here is it believe it or not) So the locals decided enough is enough they took their fishing boats and are patrolling the seas cashing away people who are dumping stuff and demanding 'tax' from those fishing.

I think it's unnecessary for them to be so violent but what would you do if it was your country? Yes, there are rebels and robbers there too who are just plain thieves of the ocean. For instance the ones that took the oil rig, they where robbers.

But here is where the problem lies the British navy has send ships over to take care of the 'Pirate' problem. Which pirates? I am pretty sure they won't catch the real criminals but rather the ex-fisherman and they would bear the brunt of it. Who is really to blame? When I started this article I was outraged that something like this could happen.

Who is dumb enough to dump nuclear waste in the ocean? Anyway, now all I can think is how can this vicious cycle end. The first world country screws the little people then when the little people want to take back, they become criminals.

I found this map of reported attacks from the pirates the red line is Somalia's border. More than half off the attacks take place in it and then most of them take place on the Indian ocean side not the Gulf of Aden where ships must past to get to the rest of the ocean. You can click on the image for full size. Remember this is just my take on things. I do not condone violence just I do not think it's fair that richer countries can strip and destroy their sea and they cannot retaliate in some way.

Al Quaeda blames Barack Obama for Israel-Gaza conflict

January 7, 2009 by Daizy

rocket_into_israelSeeing that the conflict goes back to 1960 I cannot fathom why they can blame him. Apparently they believe it's Obama's present to Israel. Huh?! Ok how can a war that was started by Hamas even remotely be blamed on Obama or America. The way the Muslims continue to think that the world revolves around hating them, is seriously clouding their judgment. Hamas continual rocket fire into Israel started this current battle, not Obama. Then they people argue put Hamas has the right to be angry because they live in a segregated community. Now flashback to when the border was made and the Israeli's was forcefully removed from their homes to give it to the Palestinians, all the Arab countries agreed upon the boundaries. Actually everyone was happy to force Israel into giving Gaza to the Palestinians. What a mistake. The Israeli's created and oasis where there was desert. They built all the hospitals and schools they had flourishing greenhouses. Where is all those things? Destroyed by Hamas for some inexplicable reason. Their hate so much stronger than their common sense. I saw on tv how the Israeli settlers cried over they're homes and farms as they where being forced from their homes. Back then it was green and beautiful now it's becoming desert again.

Green houses before Palestinians took over Gaza

They burned them all 14$million worth greenhouses destroyed for arms smuggling tunnels.

The point is the Israeli's gave in once just to be attacked again. Now the whole world is screaming for Israel to stop the fighting but what of Hamas? Should they not carry some of the burden, most of them are cowards who think if they shoot a rocket while between homes of families with children they would get away with it. That is why so many children are getting hurt because Hamas is sheltering themselves behind them. I am all worked up now because watching on the news how they concentrate on children being carried into the hospital very view ask the question why was the Israeli's shooting where there are civilians. It's because the rocket fire is coming from there.

War between Israel and Gaza

December 28, 2008 by Daizy

hamas_rocketsI do not understand why everyone is concentrating on the fact that Israel attacked Gaza. Think carefully if this was for example the United states of America and Mexico kept shooting missiles over the border and sending in suicide bombers, there would be a wall up in a week and they would declare war on Mexico. Same could be said for any country. So why is Israel being blamed for trying to defend it's people? Hamas do not want to share Israel, they want it under Muslim rule, they want to own the whole country. It's not like they give Israelis a choice. Hamas will not stop they are determined that Israel must once again be a Muslim nation. And that can never be done because if that would happen the whole of Israel would be destroyed. Think about what happened to those Buddhist statues that was blown up because according to Muslim law such things should be destroyed. Israel will defend itself until the last Israeli and Hamas would do the same Hamas's law prohibit that they share the land with Jews and Christians, this is not about Gaza being sectioned of from Israel. They where separated because they kept blowing up people and bringing terror into Israel. Not because Israel is racist and mean. There would be no peace in that part of the world for a long time, the rest of the world should just leave it be.

This guy is seriously on drugs. Maybe he forgot that the Afrikaners does have the capacity to destroy the ANC. At the same time while blaming the "Afrikaners of destroying the ANC, the bloke called Gwede Mantashe says that they dont have the capacity to destroy the ANC.

Confusion at its best.

"Counter-revolutionary forces have been saying that the ANC is just too strong and the ANC must be divided, weakened and defeated. But they forget a long time ago that the opposition parties and the Afrikaners had never had the capacity to destroy the ANC. Or maybe they do?

We still wont vote for you Lekota and Shilowa

Yes you might of break away from the ANC but you still dont have my vote, yes you seem to be against the ANC but you are still the ANC, the party that messed up the country, that party that still support BEE and AA. You might have a few votes but you still dont have my vote. You are still only ANC and those are the people that have destroyed the country.

Blogging Addiction - You check your stats way to much

May 2, 2008 by evl

Blogging and Internet Addiction is real and it sucks. It destroys time you can spend with your family or your children and it can also destroy other relationships. When you start out your blog and blog for the first 3 months its understandable that you might overdo it a bit. A new blogger needs to work at least 16 hours a day to have a successful blog up and running and to get past the 3 months mark. Blogging Addiction can really become to much for you and it can even cause you to have a break down or totally quit blogging. One of the signs of Blogging Addiction is checking your stats every 5 minutes. You know your stats in and out. How people find you, how many people is on your blog at any particular time and how many people have gone in a certain page. You might not be that bad but you might still be checking your blog every 5 minutes to see if something new has happened. The best way to overcome this part of blogging addiction is to set a time of the day that you can check your stats. I usually check my stats early in the morning when I drink my coffee. The only other time I would check my stats is, when I need to check what words gets searched so I can optimize my blog even more for search engines. You need to remember, your stats will still be there tomorrow. You wont miss something big by not looking at your stats. So make yourself a schedule and stop checking those stats.
