We live in an age were the future is unsure for us. As an white South African there is many more concerns and fears. I saw what happened in Zimbabwe the country where my mother was born. We once had family there but I never had the opportunity to see for myself and my mother still wishes to go see her birth place. It is true if you are born in Africa its like the country is born in you you cannot escape it. I have tried. I went to england and my love for my country only grew. With all the dangers here and the daily uncertainty and threat on the future of our land I would still not leave by choice.
Crime is rampant, the state of our politics are hopeless, our media is under threat and now we do not even have access to unlimited electricity. Our economy was looking up, now with the darkness coming from Eskom its slipping. I hope, I pray that this will wake up the people so that they forget about revenge, white and black but rather concentrate on the things that matter. All that money that was spent on changing airports names and towns and streets could have been used to feed the poor and look after the sick.
How many could not have been educated because they would rather change the name of the school than pay educated people enough money to educate the youth? How many lives could have been saved if they put more funds in the police department for more police cars, bigger prisons and more cops to keep us safe? But still with all this going on this is my home, it's beautiful and the people are happy and relaxed as if there is no worries for tomorrow we have learnt to live with this countries evils.
