Buddypress looks promising August 18th, 2008
Buddypress is a new Wordpress Mu social networking software based on wordpress and wordrpess mu, this seems to be the ultimate social networking software.
Not released yet, Buddypress will enable you to have:
A quote from the official site
The idea of BuddyPress is to take a standard vanilla installation of WordPress MU and turn it into something that represents more of a community building tool, or niche social network.
Instead of being just a ordinary blog system, buddypress if kept on the original theme focus on the the profile more instead of the blogs.
I cant wait for the 1st release.

Mosquito netting in a survival kit. August 14th, 2008
Here in Africa we have things like malaria and other things carried by Mosquitos. Probably all over the world there is some form of flying thing that will bite you when you are nicely tucked away in your shelter. Especially at summer.
One thing you need to put in your survival kit if you live in such a area is a Mosquito Net. Not just for you but take one for each person that is with you. Obviously you plan ahead, 5 people in your family you take 5 nets.
This can be a great help and also when you dont have access to medical and medicine its important to take all the precautions you can.
So remember folks. Take those mosquito nets.
No arrests have yet been made. August 11th, 2008
That is a classic fraise we now hear almost daily in South Africa’s news. I dont have much else to say that its clear that no arrests have been made. The state of crime and the people that are suppose to stop it. Yes No arrests have been made.
Dont you just get annoyed by hearing that almost daily? Then a few days later they catch someone just to let them go but just wait until a white person does something wrong. Then its all over the news for years to come.
But what can we do? We can just listen to the echoes of “no arrests have been made”
Annoyed.
Sunset Beach in Cape Town August 9th, 2008
This is sunset beach in Green Point, Cape Town. Not much of a beach but as soon as the waves come this place is packed with surfers. I personally would not risk surfing here but I guess they know what they’re doing. Strand in Helderberg still remains my favourite surfing spot, probably because I know the area and I am quite afraid of sharks.
Does the time you spend online reflect in your blog posts? August 5th, 2008
I spend just about half the entire day and night on the internet looking for interesting stuff to waste my slow bandwidth with while I am supposed to blog how about you?
If you run a full time blog your excuse usually is that you are hard at work typing a way working on your blog, the rest of the time you either hope for summer or busy burning yourself in this day of global warming looking at bikinis or taking a surf.
Well unfortunately internet addiction and full time blogging go hand in hand. I guess because its winter here in South Africa and everyone sits behind the pc all day.
The question is does the time you spend on the internet reflect on your blog in a good way, are there enough posts for you to sit there all day?
Personally I realized today I only started a blog and did about 5 posts on Fromtheold But I’ve spend all day online. So technically my time spend online versus posts does not satisfy me being online all day.
In other words if you dont spend your time blogging when you want to be or are a full time blogger you are basically wasting your time.
I do.

Windows Mail, why does it refuse to close when i shut it down July 28th, 2008
I am still keeping up with this Windows Vista crap. Every time I shut down Windows Mail it decided to keep downloading the emails in the background. I see windows has a history of not listening to what a person tells it to do. Its like Vista has some artificial intelligence, but just enough to annoy you and do the total opposite of what you want it to do.
Usually in Ubuntu when I told something to shut up and go away, it did. With Vista I have to negotiate with the programs and sometimes, just sometimes they might give me my cpu processing power back of my laptop.

Anyway. This photograph was taken on thursday while standing in the friday traffic, or so I thought.
I like the colours of autumn. Well summer is better and here in Helderberg one can take much better photos in the summer.
This winter is getting really long and boring. But one should not wich it over since the average person only sees about 70 winters in their lifetime.
Anyway back to the photograph.
Helderberg Photoblog is now actually Helderberg Photography and this is actually part of my display over there. Building a Photo portfolio is a great idea if you want to get hired to take photographs. People can look at your work.
I guess I am just rambling now. Its 1am and I need some sleep.
