Spring starts 1st of September

Ok before everyone tells me Spring officially only starts 21 September I know that but I guess it's a tradition in South Africa to celebrate Spring on the 1st of September, when i grew up we usually had a big spring day and i'd like to keep it that way.

Have some fun people.

Tomorrow is Spring!

Tomorrow spring starts on this part of Africa and it sure is about time. The flu and the cold weather and all that is getting a bit much now. I cant wait to get myself a canoe and go drifting around at the harbour catching some waves, taking the longboard for a few waves and just relaxing with the family on the beach.

Survival Tips: The Champ Swiss army knife - The Pliers

October 20, 2008 by evl

This is probably the tool with the most uses on the Swiss army knife. The pliers has so many functions. The pliers on the swiss army knife is designed like the classic pliers that's used since 2000bc. One of the uses for the pliers is the obvious, whatever you can use a plier for. The pliers on the knife are pretty strong. The teeth on the pliers make it a great tool for gripping something. The spring can also be replaced. The second function of the pliers on the swiss army knife is the wire stripper which you can see in the image below. You can use this as a wire stripper but also a wire cutter. You can see the part i am talking about left of the swivel. Below is the part of the pliers you can use as a clamp or to squash wires and bend wires. This can be used to also strip wires as well as shape and bend small metal objects.

Rain at last!

There have been a drought in Helderberg for the past 7 years and finally it's come to an end. It's been raining so well this year, almost all the time. It's a terrible thing for my 2 year old and really annoying to get my washing done but i love it. The whole area has come to life again. We had allot of fires during the drought and the mountains was struggling to recuperate but i can see the green shine from far and it's just breathtaking. This is going to be a great spring i believe the best since 2000 all the mountain flowers which include a wide variety of proteas will be in full bloom, perfect for photography. I can't wait for spring I will definitely be taking a trip to the nature reserve then my toddler can run about and i can take pictures of all the flowers and scenery.
