If you have more than one topic you would like to blog about, dont just blog it on one place. Search engines will compare the significance of each post with the other.
Dont for one moment think its not possible. By having to many categories and sections about varies topics you cant take over search engines for all topics.
Sometimes you go through 50 domains, thinking each one is the best, spending a lot of money on buying and then decide it's not the correct domain for you.
