The Scriptures (TS98) was published and is copyrighted by the Institute for Scripture Research, a local based South African Institute. They made this version and according to their site “The Scriptures is a literal translation of the Tanakh and the Messianic Scriptures.”
The Name of God used in the TS is the Hebrew יהוה .
The bible version is one used often in the “Sacred Name Movement”. According to some scholars this version is the proper way GOD’s name should be used as in this bible, however they miss important scriptures.
For instance in Matthew 1 Virgin is replaced with Maiden. Not entirely accurate. Actually this is a corruption of the text because the bible clearly states in Isaiah that “a virgin shall conceive”
23“See, a maiden shall conceive, and sheshall give birth to a Son, and they shall callHis Name Immanu’el,” which translated, means, “El with us.”
So what is the point in restoring the Name but removing very important scripture? This is what The Scriptures (TS98) does.
Maiden could mean virgin but mostly when people write maiden they refer to a young woman. Virgin clears it out and makes us understand that the Word says virgin.
A lot of translations use young woman, they skip even using maiden which makes it worse.
