Using the roof or ceiling of a small house for storage.
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - 22:50
Living in a small house we sometimes forget about the extra space we own in our roofs. But the roof is in fact a great storage place for things you dont use so often and you still get to keep that extra clutter within your house. The roof is a safe storage place and it keeps your items safe.
But before you go up there right now there are things to consider when storing things in the roof and you should make sure that you are not doing any of these things.
- Dont store anything close to cables
Storing anything close to a cable can cause fire or it can damage the cables wich also poses a electric shock risk.
- Make sure your roof can hold your items
Here in South Africa we have very thin ceilings and putting to much wait without strengthning it first will make the roof break
- Keep the geezer clear and dont stop the extra water from coming out of the vent holes.
Blocking the holes in geezer is dangerous and can cause it to blow up. Leave the geezer alone.
- Make sure you have a safe way of getting in the roof
More old people die of falling than anything else. So make sure you get up there safely.
I guess that is it. So pack and use that roof as storage.
