Last year I wanted to do some laptop and computer monitor shopping here in Somerset Mall, Somerset West, South Africa. Longitude and Latitude I dont have.
Anyway. I got two screens / monitors whatever you want to call them from Incredible connection in Somerset Mall. Both had dead pixels within a week. Now I dont like dead pixels. But one thing I like less than dead pixels are dead pixels on a brand new monitor. That sucks.
So I took them back to incredible connection only for them to tell me that the industry standard is 10 dead pixels before you can return or swop the monitor for a new one.
10 dead pixels? Incredible connection just said it and thats it.
So. Today I read that Acer’s policy is 4 dead pixels and not 10. That means if your Acer screen has 4 dead pixels you can return it if you still have the warranty.
But now what if there is a black dot in the middle of the monitor?? Well according to Acer you cant to anything about it. Even if your screen is still under warranty.
I bought myself a Samsung monitor for a few hundred rand extra. And trust me that was worth every cent.
Its now 1 year later and the two Acer screens have retired long ago. But the samsung monitor is still going strong. Just one button fell out.
