Red
The color red raises the blood pressure, speer up respiration and the heart rate. Some consider it too stimulating for a bedroom but after dark, a person will only see it by lamplight, the color would appear muted, elegant and rich. But for an entry way it would create strong first impression. And it is particularly a good choice when you want to stir up excitement. Red draws people together and stumulates conversation making it a good choice for a living or dinning area.
Crimson
The color crimson should not be used as the main color in a room. It invokes the feeling of hostility and rage most people will start to feel irritable if they stay to long in a room of this color. It breaks down the peace and harmony in a home.
Yellow
In chromotherapy the color yellow is believed to purify the body and stimulate the nerves. It's a happy color capturing the joy of sunshine. In small spaces such as halls and entries yellow can feel welcoming and make the area seem larger. It must be used were a happy color is energizing and uplifting such as kitchens, bathrooms and dinning rooms. Although yellow is a cheerful color, it's not a good choice for a main color of an room. People are more likely to loose their tempers and babies seem to cry more in a yellow room. The color is the most fatiguing on the eyes and also tends to bring out feelings of anger and frustration.
Blue
Blue slows respiration, brings down the heart rate and blood pressure. It's considered relaxing, serene and calming. When choosing blue paint you have to be careful, it can come across as cold especially if a room has little natural light. If you choose to make a light blue,the primary color in a room , balance it out with warm colours in the furniture and fabrics. Stick to lighter, softer blues because dark blues tend to evoke feelings of sadness. To encourage relaxation, you can use warmer blues such as periwinkle or cerulean or turquoise.
green color
By combining the qualities of blue and yellow, green is suited to almost any room. It cools when needed and is stil warm enough to be cozy. Green is the most restful color for the eye and has a calming effect when used as a main color. It promotes stress relief so its the best color to use for a relaxing environment. Plus its also helps with fertility, making it a great choice for in a bedroom.
Purple
Dark purple should mainly be used as an secondary color. It is dramatic, sophisticated and rich giving depth to a room and accent the other colors. Lilac and lighter versions of purple could be used as a main color for it has the same values as blue just without the risk of being chilly.
Orange
In ancient cultures orange was used to increase energy levels and heal the lungs. That alone is a good indicator its not the best color to be used in a bedroom or as a main colour. It might be beter used only to excentuate other colors.
Neutrals (black, gray, white, and brown)
They are the most flexible colours you can add colours to them and subtract changing the whole atmosphere in a room. Black though should always be used in minimal to create depth rather than be the center of attention. But every room needs a little black somewhere to accent the other colors. These colours are always handy and we cannot do without.
